About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Industrial / Electrical / Mechanical CAD Drafter to support our Australian engineering and manufacturing team. You will prepare accurate technical drawings, fabrication documentation, and electrical layouts for industrial and commercial projects.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in electrical switchboards, control panels, mechanical fabrication, or industrial drafting who enjoys producing precise, construction-ready documentation.

Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Switchboard & Control Panel Drafting

• Prepare drawings for LV switchboards, MCCs, distribution boards, and control panels
• Produce general arrangements, internal layouts, single-line diagrams, and electrical schematics
• Design around busbars, cable zones, segregation, clearances, and equipment mounting requirements

Sheet Metal & Enclosure Drafting

• Prepare fabrication drawings for electrical enclosures, cabinets, machinery guards, and modular framing systems
• Create drilling details, cut-outs, assembly drawings, and manufacturing documentation
• Design with consideration for bends, tolerances, fasteners, and manufacturability

Industrial Electrical & Automation Drafting

• Produce drawings for PLC panels, control cabinets, instrumentation systems, and process plants
• Prepare electrical schematics, cable schedules, terminal drawings, and component layouts
• Apply industry-standard electrical symbols, wiring conventions, and device tagging

Mechanical Drafting

• Prepare manufacturing drawings for machinery, steel fabrication, production equipment, and modular assemblies
• Develop fabrication-ready documentation that workshop tradespeople can accurately manufacture and assemble
• Create Bills of Materials (BOMs), manage revision control, and update drawings from site measurements

Documentation & Coordination

• Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and design mark-ups
• Revise and update drawings throughout the project lifecycle
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, estimators, and production teams
• Maintain drawing registers, revisions, and organized project documentation
• Ensure drawings meet Australian standards and project specifications where applicable

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as an Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, or CAD Drafter
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software
• Experience producing fabrication, manufacturing, or construction documentation
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Excellent attention to detail and drafting accuracy
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Reliable internet connection and suitable home office setup

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following:

• Australian engineering or construction projects
• Electrical switchboards and control panels
• Manufacturing or fabrication environments
• Structural steel detailing
• Sheet metal drafting
• Mechanical assemblies
• PLC and industrial automation systems
• Electrical distribution systems
• Light Gauge Steel Framing (LGSF/LSF)
• Structural timber framing
• Facade systems
• Material take-offs and Bills of Materials (BOM)
• Australian Standards and National Construction Code (NCC)

A Bachelor's degree, diploma, or technical qualification in Engineering, Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline is an advantage.
