Position Purpose

The Assistant Account Manager & Client Activation provides essential administrative, analytical, and activation support to the Key/National Account Manager and Sales Team.

This role coordinates key customer activities, including promotions, new product development (NPD), client activation programs, and reporting to ensure the smooth and efficient management of customer accounts.

The position plays a pivotal role in delivering an exceptional client experience through accurate coordination, timely communication, and strong operational execution, supporting both business growth and brand visibility across retail and pharmacy channels.

Position Duties and Accountabilities:

Assistant and Support of Account Management

1. Provide day-to-day assistant and coordination support to the Account Management team.

2. Manage vendor and new line creation, account setup, and customer documentation.

3. Maintain accurate client and account information in the CRM and digital tools, ensuring data integrity.

4. Coordinate promotional materials, samples, and point-of-sale (POS) assets for trade events and customer activations.

5. Support internal coordination across Category, Brand Marketing, Logistics, and Finance to ensure accurate and timely fulfilment of customer requirements.

6. Assist in responding promptly and professionally to client enquiries, ensuring consistent communication and service delivery.

7. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of client needs and operational issues.

8. Escalate complex matters to the National Account Manager where appropriate.

9. Support the organisation of client meetings, conferences, and trade shows as required.

Client Activation and Promotional Support

1. Assist in planning and executing promotional programs, retail media activities, and in-store activations.

2. Coordinate POS and display requirements, ensuring execution in collaboration with the Field Sales team.

3. Prepare buyer packs, sell-in decks, contact reports, and post-activation summaries.

4. Track promotional compliance and collect photos & evidence from the sales field team and performance data for reporting to the National Account Manager.

5. Audit customer platforms for accuracy of product imagery, descriptions, and live promotions; liaise with the Brand/Category team to correct inconsistencies.

Analytics, Forecasting & Reporting

1. Prepare regular performance reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) and provide insights into account activity, promotional effectiveness, and sales trends.

2. Contribute to the client’s forecasting in partnership with the Commercial Operations team (base and uplift volumes).

3. Analyse market insights, customer feedback, and competitor activity to support strategic decision-making and client recommendations.

4. Support Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR)or Joint Business Planning (JBP) activities by maintaining trackers, performance dashboards, and timelines.

Skills and Experience:

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in business, marketing, or health (ideal)
  • Current C Class Drivers licence (essential)

Experience

  • Previous experience in an account coordination, client activation, or sales support role.
  • Experience in FMCG, retail, or pharmacy environments is highly regarded.
  • Exposure to CRM systems, forecasting tools, and retail data platforms.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and multiple stakeholders.

Skills

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in Excel and data reporting tools.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems.
