Job Summary:

The Senior Underwriter – Property & Engineering is responsible for evaluating, assessing, and underwriting property and engineering risks within delegated authority while ensuring profitability and portfolio growth. The role works closely with brokers, clients, reinsurers, and internal stakeholders to deliver responsive service, sound underwriting decisions, and risk-based solutions aligned with company standards and underwriting guidelines.

What You’ll Do:

  • Evaluate and underwrite Property and Engineering insurance risks within delegated authority and company underwriting guidelines.
  • Analyze risk exposures and determine appropriate coverage, pricing, terms, and conditions.
  • Review and assess submissions, quotations, renewals, endorsements, and policy applications for Property & Engineering accounts.
  • Prepare and negotiate quotations and policy terms with brokers, agents, and clients.
  • Manage and maintain strong business relationships with brokers, intermediaries, and clients to support business retention and growth.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, profitability, and risk quality to ensure sound underwriting results.
  • Coordinate with reinsurers regarding facultative placements and treaty requirements when necessary.
  • Conduct risk analysis and provide recommendations for risk mitigation and loss prevention.
  • Ensure timely issuance of quotations, policies, endorsements, and underwriting documentation.
  • Work closely with Claims, Finance, and Business Development teams regarding underwriting and account concerns.
  • Support junior underwriters by providing technical guidance and mentoring when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, underwriting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare reports and participate in underwriting reviews, projects, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

What You Need to Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Risk Management, or any related course.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant underwriting experience, preferably in Property and Engineering Lines.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Property & Engineering insurance products, risk assessment, and underwriting principles.
  • Experience in non-life insurance industry is required.
  • Good understanding of reinsurance and facultative placements is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent relationship management and customer service skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and underwriting systems.

Work Location: In person
