About the Role

We are a growing UK technology group seeking a hands-on Group Financial Controller to take ownership of our finance function.

This is not a traditional corporate finance role. We operate with modern systems, automation, AI-assisted workflows and a lean structure. We are looking for someone who enjoys taking responsibility, improving processes and acting as the owner of finance across multiple group companies.

You will be the primary finance professional within the business, working directly with senior leadership and supporting decision-making through accurate reporting, strong controls and efficient financial operations.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants genuine ownership and influence rather than a role focused on managing a large team.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations

Own month-end and year-end close processes
Prepare management accounts and financial reports
Maintain general ledger accuracy and reconciliations
Manage accounts payable and contractor payments
Oversee cash flow monitoring and forecasting
Maintain fixed asset and balance sheet schedules

Payroll and Compliance

Manage payroll processes and payment schedules
Coordinate statutory filings and compliance requirements
Manage VAT processes and reporting
Coordinate corporation tax submissions with external advisers
Ensure all regulatory and reporting deadlines are met

Revenue and Commercial Controls

Reconcile subscription and platform revenue
Monitor pricing structures, discounts and promotional activity
Support revenue reporting and analysis
Ensure accurate financial treatment of sales activity across multiple channels
Work with project and product teams to maintain financial accuracy within operational systems

Systems and Process Improvement

Own finance systems and ERP processes
Improve reporting, automation and operational efficiency
Build scalable finance workflows using modern software and AI tools
Document and maintain robust internal controls

Required Experience

CPA qualification (Philippines) strongly preferred
Minimum 5 years of accounting and finance experience
Experience managing month-end close independently
Experience with payroll, reconciliations and financial reporting
Experience supporting multiple entities or group structures
Strong understanding of bookkeeping fundamentals
Experience using modern accounting software and ERP systems
Advanced Excel or spreadsheet skills

Preferred Experience

Experience supporting UK-based businesses
Exposure to UK VAT and compliance requirements
Experience in technology, SaaS, subscription or digital businesses
Experience working remotely with international teams
Familiarity with automation tools and AI-assisted workflows
