Strategic Sourcing & Supply Chain Manager

Independent Electronic Components Distribution | ISO 9001 / AS9120 Certified |

Solve the supply chain problems nobody else can.

At Summon Electronics, we don't compete by having the biggest inventory.

We compete by finding solutions others can't.

When OEMs, transit authorities, defense contractors, and contract manufacturers are told a part is unavailable, obsolete, allocated, or impossible to source, they call us. Our job isn't simply buying components—it's engineering a supply chain strategy that gets production moving again.

We're looking for a Strategic Sourcing & Supply Chain Manager who can think beyond catalogs, distributor stock, and standard procurement processes. Someone who can uncover hidden supply channels, build unconventional supplier relationships, negotiate creative solutions, and consistently deliver competitive advantages for our customers.

This is not a purchasing role.

This is a supply chain problem-solving role.

What You'll OwnStrategic Sourcing & Supply Chain Intelligence

You'll be responsible for designing sourcing strategies that balance:

  • Cost
  • Lead time
  • Authenticity
  • Risk
  • Availability
  • Long-term supply continuity

Every RFQ is a puzzle.

You'll determine the best path to supply—not simply the first available source.

Solving Impossible Supply Challenges

When customers need:

  • Obsolete components
  • Long lead-time parts
  • Factory-constrained components
  • End-of-life products
  • Legacy transit and industrial electronics
  • Defense and aerospace components

You develop sourcing strategies that competitors don't see.

This may involve:

  • Global supplier networks
  • Factory-direct negotiations
  • Alternate manufacturers
  • Cross references
  • Excess inventory channels
  • Contract manufacturing partnerships
  • Last-time-buy opportunities
  • Strategic inventory positioning

You are expected to think beyond traditional distribution.

Supplier Network Development

Build and maintain relationships with:

  • Authorized distributors
  • Manufacturers
  • Contract manufacturers
  • Independent distributors
  • Excess inventory partners
  • Global sourcing offices
  • Specialty suppliers

Your network becomes one of the company's most valuable assets.

Market Intelligence & Cost Strategy

Monitor:

  • Component shortages
  • Allocation trends
  • Market pricing shifts
  • Tariff impacts
  • Geopolitical supply risks
  • Factory lead-time changes

You help determine:

  • When to buy
  • How much to buy
  • Where to buy
  • Whether inventory should be positioned ahead of demand

You are expected to anticipate disruptions before customers feel them.

Negotiation & Commercial Strategy

You negotiate:

  • Cost reductions
  • Allocation access
  • Factory support
  • Expedite opportunities
  • Payment terms
  • Strategic stocking agreements

You understand that the lowest unit cost is not always the lowest total cost.

Every decision should optimize total supply chain value.

Risk & Authenticity Management

Every sourcing decision must support:

  • AS9120 compliance
  • ISO 9001 requirements
  • Traceability standards
  • Counterfeit avoidance
  • Customer-specific quality requirements

You evaluate supplier risk before a purchase order is issued—not after a problem occurs.

What Success Looks LikeWithin 90 Days

  • Founder removed from day-to-day sourcing activities.
  • Majority of RFQs sourced through repeatable sourcing workflows.
  • Strategic supplier database expanded and strengthened.
  • Improved quote turnaround times on difficult-to-source opportunities.
  • Clear sourcing strategies documented for allocated and obsolete components.
  • Increased supplier engagement and negotiated cost improvements.

Within 12 Months

  • Summon develops a competitive sourcing advantage difficult for competitors to replicate.
  • Supplier network significantly expanded globally.
  • Strategic inventory opportunities identified and executed.
  • Consistent margin improvement through smarter sourcing strategies.
  • Increased win rates on difficult and high-value opportunities.
  • Supply chain risk visibility improved across key customer programs.

Who You Are

You probably have experience in:

  • Electronic component distribution
  • Supply chain management
  • Strategic sourcing
  • Procurement
  • Component brokerage
  • Manufacturing supply chain operations

More importantly:

You are naturally curious.

You don't accept "no stock available" as the final answer.

You enjoy finding opportunities hidden behind complexity.

You know how to:

  • Build supplier relationships quickly
  • Ask better questions than competitors
  • Connect information from multiple sources
  • Negotiate creatively
  • Assess risk
  • Think several moves ahead

When others see a dead end, you see another path.

Why This Role Matters

Most companies buy parts.

Summon builds supply chain solutions.

The right person in this role will become the strategic force behind how we source, negotiate, and solve problems for some of the world's most demanding manufacturers.

If you enjoy turning impossible sourcing challenges into competitive advantages, we should talk.
