Full job description

The Retail Sales Specialist is responsible for driving revenue growth by managing existing accounts, developing new business opportunities, and strengthening customer relationships within the construction and distribution industry. The role requires a proactive sales professional with strong technical selling capabilities, market intelligence, negotiation expertise, and customer-centric leadership to achieve business objectives while ensuring operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Sales Growth

  • Manage and expand existing customer accounts to achieve sales targets and territory growth objectives.
  • Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities across contractors, developers, distributors, architects, engineers, and project owners.
  • Conduct product presentations, technical demonstrations, seminars, and product trials to promote company solutions.
  • Develop and execute territory sales plans aligned with organizational goals and market opportunities.
  • Generate accurate sales forecasts and maintain a healthy sales pipeline.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular customer visits to understand project requirements and business needs.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through timely resolution of concerns, complaints, and technical inquiries.
  • Provide consultative selling by recommending appropriate products and solutions based on customer requirements.

Channel & Distributor Management

  • Conduct Monthly Business Reviews with distributors to assess performance, opportunities, and action plans.
  • Collaborate closely with distributor sales teams and promotional representatives to maximize market coverage.
  • Monitor distributor performance, inventory levels, and product movement to ensure market availability.
  • Support channel partners through product training, business planning, and sales initiatives.

Market Intelligence & Strategic Planning

  • Gather and analyze market information, customer trends, competitor activities, pricing movements, and industry developments.
  • Recommend sales strategies and business initiatives based on market insights.
  • Identify emerging market opportunities and risks within the assigned territory.
  • Prepare sales reports, territory analyses, and business forecasts for management review.

Commercial & Credit Management

  • Ensure pricing proposals and quotations comply with company guidelines and profitability requirements.
  • Evaluate customer creditworthiness and coordinate credit recommendations with relevant departments.
  • Monitor receivables and support collection efforts to maintain healthy account performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, sales procedures, and contractual agreements.

Sales Operations & Inventory Coordination

  • Monitor sales order fulfillment from order placement through delivery.
  • Coordinate with supply chain, logistics, and customer service teams to ensure efficient order processing.
  • Monitor inventory levels and product availability within distributor and customer locations.
  • Promote proper storage, handling, and inventory management practices for company products.

Qualifications Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or any related four-year course.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of sales, account management, technical selling, or business development experience within the construction, building materials, chemicals, waterproofing, concrete, or distribution industry.
  • Experience working with distributors, contractors, developers, and project stakeholders.
  • Multinational company experience is an advantage.

Skills & Certifications

  • Strong technical selling and consultative sales skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
  • Proficiency in sales forecasting, market analysis, and territory management.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Valid Professional Driver's License and willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems is preferred.
