The Electrical Engineer - Test and Applicationswill be responsible for ensuring that electrical systems, equipment, and installations are tested, verified, and commissioned according to design specifications, safety standards, and operational requirements. The role plays a critical part in delivering reliable, efficient, and compliant electrical systems before project turnover.

Key Responsibilities

This role sits at the intersection of technical precision, project coordination, and accountability:

  • Conduct application activities for electrical systems such as switchgear, transformers, generators, protection systems, and control panels
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, and method statements prior to testing
  • Prepare and execute testing procedures, checklists, and commissioning plans
  • Perform pre-commissioning inspections and functional testing
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical issues during testing phases
  • Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, and clients during T&C activities
  • Ensure compliance with Philippine Electrical Code (PEC), safety standards, and client requirements
  • Prepare and submit test reports, commissioning reports, and as-built documentation
  • Support energization and system handover processes
  • Maintain safety protocols and enforce site safety compliance

Knowledge of the following is preferred:

  • Calculations, sizing, specifications, Power System Analysis, Cable Sizing, Electrical Equipment Datasheets and Sizing, Design Basis, FEED studies, Cost Estimates.
  • Electrical Engineering software such as SKM or other software tools; 2D and 3D design software such as AutoCAD, Microstation, E3D, and similar software.
  • International standards such as NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IEC, and other industry and client-specific codes and standards
  • Single line diagrams, load list, cable schedules, panel schedules, Hazardous Area Classification layout, substation layout, lighting layout, grounding layouts, motor schematic diagrams, interconnection diagrams, riser diagrams, installation details, cable tray / Conduit Routing Layout, Auxiliary Systems and other design deliverables.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

This role is highly output-driven. Success is measured not just by activity, but by accuracy, timeliness, and system reliability:

1. Project Delivery

  • % of T&C activities completed on schedule (Target: 95–100%)
  • Number of delayed commissioning milestones

2. Quality & Compliance

  • % of tests passed on first execution (Target: 90%+)
  • Number of reworks due to testing errors or missed defects
  • Compliance rate with PEC and project specifications

3. Technical Effectiveness

  • Average resolution time for electrical faults during commissioning
  • Number of critical issues detected before system energization

4. Documentation

  • Timely submission of complete testing and commissioning reports (Target: 100%)
  • Accuracy of reports with minimal revisions required

5. Safety

  • Zero major safety incidents during testing and commissioning
  • Compliance with safety protocols and audit results

6. Stakeholder Coordination

  • Client/Project Manager satisfaction rating
  • Responsiveness to coordination and site issues

Qualifications & Background:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Licensed Electrical Engineer (REE required; RME is an advantage)
  • 3–7 years experience in power plant generation
  • Experience in power plant generation systems
  • Exposure to high-voltage or medium-voltage systems is an advantage
  • Knowledge of electrical testing equipment (e.g., insulation tester, relay test kit, multimeter, power analyzer)
  • Familiarity with protection systems, relay testing, and power systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and single-line diagrams
  • Understanding of commissioning procedures and QA/QC processes
  • Ability to work under pressure during project deadlines
  • Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • High sense of ownership and accountability

Pay: Php23,000.00 - Php29,000.00 per month
