Reviews about Salary & Benefits for Cashier in True Value
Very Mid
Cashier (Former Employee) - Boston, MA - October 4, 2021
I worked at TV for a short period of time. I only ever worked at the register & only ... the register. It was just so boring & I've worked 3 retail jobs prior so I knew how to use a register! I just wish that I got to do other stuff, maybe I would've stayed. The only break you would get is if you were working for 8 hours & it was one, 30 minute break ... Some of the people were chill & it is a decent job for a student but if you want to feel content with your job maybe consider working elsewhere.
Pros
Good discount
Cons
Bad pay/working conditions, depressing environment

Its a fair job
Cashier (Current Employee) - Mystic, CT - September 25, 2019
Company is great to work for. Management is very flexible with hours and time off if needed. Benefits after a certain period of time are wonderful. Staff is polite and friendly. Family oriented
Pros
Great staff and management
Cons
Not much room to grow

Fun place to learn and work, poor management
Cashier (Former Employee) - Eugene, OR - March 15, 2019
I loved learning home improvement and social skills while working there, and the customer base was overall kind and friendly. Excellent hourly wages, started at $12 an hour and went up to $13 after 6 months. However, even though I worked full time, paying rent to live in the area stretched my budget thin. Health benefits were decent, though I get better coverage from OHP. Coworkers were knowledgeable and very helpful, but shortstaffing raised stress levels. Management wouldn’t hire anyone new, and the owner refused to retire despite medical issues that interfered with work. Busy season vs off season would create a large fluctuation of activity - going from nonstop work in the summer, to hours without seeing a customer in the winter. Cashiers are forced to stand all day, and constant activity with short breaks made me incredibly fatigued when I went home, so I had zero energy for anything else. Overall stress levels and concern for physical health are what lead me to quit this job after a year and a half, though I would recommend it as an excellent starting job for anyone fresh out of high school or college. They are always accepting resumes, just talk to the front cashier!
Pros
Good benefits, higher than average hourly pay, smart coworkers
Cons
Short breaks, physically demanding, fast-paced
