Fun place to work but management was terrible
Cash Office Associate/Customer Service (Former Employee) - Ashburn, VA - January 23, 2013
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI would come in and count the drawers from the previous night. Order money for the week. Count the safe and do deposits. I also did product replenishment and inventory loss prevention. Recovery was done at the end of every night and the store cleaned before anyone could leave. The management was not organized and many times we were short handed due to people calling in and no one coming in to replace them. Co-workers didnt like the job but we loved each other. The most enjoyable was the customer service counter. I got to work with the best we had there and help implement new Operation procedures.
Pros
great breaks
Cons
terrible management

Area Supervisor (Former Employee) - Corvallis, OR - December 5, 2023
Management was a bit out of sorts every so often but it was a good place I’d go back if needed. Fast paced but the people were nice and the discount was fantastic

Don’t do it
Associate (Former Employee) - Skokie, IL - December 4, 2023
They rarely scheduled me to work. The only benefit was double discount days. They let anyone be a part of management - poorly trained staff and unclean.

Productive and fun environment
Front End Supervisor (Former Employee) - Kissimmee, FL - December 4, 2023
Could always get hectic but for the most part it’s not so bad of a job. The pay is decent as well as the hours, and there sure is a lot of customer interaction.

About Ross
Area Supervisor (Current Employee) - Longmont, CO - December 3, 2023
Working for Ross is an okay experience, the pay is awful, hard to live off of. I mean, I pay my own bills and rent and never have enough afterwards for groceries. The regional manager and zone admin plus whoever is above them refuse to raise the pay. Even though other places have raised their starting pay to at least $20 or higher, they don’t want to pay their associates more than $13-$14 an hour. Even the assistant manager(s) don’t get paid very well here nor do the area managers. All anybody who is above the store managers cares about is payroll which I get but they could care less about how the employees of this business are getting by based off of the pay. Genuinely, the associates could be homeless and starving and the higher ups could care less. As long as the regional manager and any higher ups are living in an apartment that is $10k a month, nothing else matters.
Pros
Nothing

Stressful
Front End Supervisor (Current Employee) - Vacaville, CA - December 3, 2023
Working at Ross actually just means working yourself out and always being stressed out with a lot of pressure in customer service. You need a very thick skin to be able to endure all of this. You are very rarely praised for your performance. As a supervisor, you are completely excluded from management, although in my opinion it is very important to get all the updates from above. How else are you going to update your cashiers when you're not even one? The communication there is zero! Not a fair working atmosphere. Very unfair pay!
Pros
There are none
Cons
Always dissatisfaction in all areas

Buckle Up
Retail Associate (Former Employee) - Peoria, AZ - December 2, 2023
If you can find something else you are better off. Bare bottom pay, retaliation in the workplace, HR is a formality and expect to give up your family and social life. Nice coworkers, bad management and even worse upper management. Expect to be worked to the bones for pennies on the dollar, no raises because of bonuses and treated like absolute trash. Sweat shop work with very little pay. Better off working in fast food because you will be paid more.
Pros
good coworkers
Cons
everything else

Horrible experiences
Uid tech (Current Employee) - Carlisle, PA - December 2, 2023
Don't do their dd's uid line pay variable are horrible functions that benefit your job performance greatly effect the dept as a whole negatively, while the functions that help the dept look good unit wise hurt your personal numbers making bonuses unachievable, i hit my 60 days with the company and had 100% on accuracy for personal audits while being at roughly 65% for production and told to bring it up and getting rushed making a mistake then being told that it was a verbal warning and if i get 3 in a month its a final warning and possible termination the main reason this job sucks is basically because you are a effectively an inbound qa person that gets judged as if you were just a basic production person

What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Stressful and tiring. Diversity What is a typical day like for you at the company? Clean, do tasks and fill spots that need coverage, so all over the place.

All positions (Former Employee) - San Dimas, CA - December 1, 2023
Honestly, This is isn’t a job to have long term. It’s good if you’re in college. Flexible hours but you gotta deal with people that are cheap. You get to learn different positions but pay sucks

Not a bad place to work; Not a good place either
Stocker (Current Employee) - Chula Vista, CA - December 1, 2023
No on the job training. The only "training" you get is watching the orientation videos. Management offers little to no help, and one manager in particular gets upset when questions are asked. They don't understand basic communication. Complete and utter lack of professionalism. Aside from that, the day goes by quick.

Meh
Cashier (Former Employee) - Sterling, VA - December 1, 2023
First job, minimum pay, odd hours. Bad management. Would not recommend anyone to do their first job or any job here. No advancement, high turnover, and a simple NO.

Good Pay, Bad Environment
Marker (Former Employee) - Moreno Valley, CA - December 1, 2023
The pay was pretty decent for the hours, but I was the only english speaker. My supervisor never explained anything to me in english and always picked on me for little things.

Awful management
Stock Associate (Former Employee) - Las Vegas, NV - December 1, 2023
Manager wasn't the best and would cut my hours to look good for the payroll. Working there the coworkers were great but only having a part time job working only 12 hours a week to have even more cut off was ridiculous.

Good Atmosphere
Operations Intern (Former Employee) - Carlisle, PA - November 30, 2023
A typical day for an Operations Intern is printing out reports and telling associates where they’ll be working for the day. The workers there are super sweet and will always be there for you if you have any questions.
