Philippine Women's University insights
Areas for improvement
- Time and location flexibility
- Ability to meet personal goals
- Energizing work tasks
Unprofessional and unethical to the applicants
Anonymous (Former Employee) - Taft Ave. Manila - October 3, 2023
We were sent to the appointed day of the interviews, but we didn't reach the office, other people said that it was closed, and their employees were off work. And we inform the interviewer who said that it will be up to us to wait for the interviewee for the second step of hiring. Imagine we waited for nothing, and it was raining and there was still a storm during those times. They don't know how to understand the person looking for a job and the cost of the fare as well as the time they wasted.

Good camaraderie with wirkmates
former faculty (Former Employee) - Manila - August 8, 2023
I enjoyed my stay here mainly because of the staff and faculty good working relationship. I can't say anything good with the rest because I learned to not say anything if you don't have anything nice to say.

Memorable and challenging
Associate Professor 1 (Former Employee) - Manila - December 21, 2022
As a faculty, the good thing about working there is they give me the freedom to manage my own class according to my own system of teaching but other things of course should be done accdg to the rules set by the school
Pros
Dont remember anything
Cons
Need to stay in the school for 8 hours everyday even if iam done teaching, the salary grade for associate prof 1 is only minimum salary equivalent to an entry level employee

Student-centered but not Pro-Teachers
SHS and JHS teacher (Former Employee) - Manila - October 1, 2022
PWU JASMS teaching pedagogy is ideal and progressive. It is true that they are students centered. However, they are not pro-teachers. Workload does not equate the salary. You are asked to work OT with no pay, "Para sa mga bata". Management is chaotic and not proactive making work more hard and stressful. They play favorites and would believe rumors. Instead of engaging in a conversation, they will do passive aggressive things to address it. Lastly, they don't listen to the teachers and engaging in a dialogue with the Admin is never welcome. Yet, there are a strong bond among the teachers. They help each other and would collaborate to make the work easy.

Loving and well grounded with the core value of the university
Associate Professor (Current Employee) - Manila - September 22, 2021
Extending my gratitude is an understatement as I highly treasure the trust PWU offers to its cohorts; a luxury not everyone enjoys in their school. I am more than lucky to be part of this institution. I always brag to all my colleagues from different universities how the system here really works and that teachers are very much valued. This is why it is never a pressure or stress to do things for this school. In fact, teachers here are always willing to do more, be more, and go beyond. I have been teaching in different universities in Metro Manila and none compare to PWU. Hence, let me thank my university for all the opportunities.

Its refreshing to work with students with high idealism.
Instructor I (Former Employee) - Manila - December 22, 2020
Its culture is focused on the development of the men and women on a holistic approach. There seems to be much going on like volleyball matches, ping pong and swimming. The hardest part is the facilities are outdated yet they don't free dental and medical services for their employees. The student are well guided and placement for new graduates is what I've experience.
Pros
Discounts on tuition fees, Quality Education for children
Cons
Politics

You may want to go and stay at the same time
The high school students are very friendly and respectful even though some of them came from different schools. You will meet different kinds of of students with different kinds of needs. In term of the faculty members, so far I experiences the best and not-so-worst batches; it still depends on how well you adapt with different people. If you are focused more on working and have no other things to worry about, this institution is gor yo.
Pros
Students, teaching and non-teaching staff
Cons
Work and life balance, low salary and no OT pay, slow-paced salary increase, less benefits

Jobs at Philippine Women's University
workmates and location
PWU is an ok institution, workmates are very flexible, its just the horrible traffic. Though a little support is given in research work, publication and scholarship.

Very pro student school
Asst professor (Former Employee) - Manila - March 2, 2020
I have been a professor their for 8 years. The good side of being a faculty there is the freedom to teach and handle my class my way other than that, the school is rated below average in faculty mgmt, conflict mgmt, salary increase and promotion. The way they treat faculty is not proportional to the salary they are receiving.

Science Teacher (Former Employee) - Baguio City - January 31, 2020
Philippine Womens University is my starting ground. Good Co Teachers and students are polite. The administration is also best in which they will inform and help you to do what you can't do. They gave salary on time and provide the necessary materials we need inside the classroom.

It was nice working here. Even if you will experience at times hardships and stress from a not so good management, it won't materialize that much because of your helpful colleagues.

Disrespectful Gestures Upon Hiring Applicants
Applicant (Former Employee) - Manila - June 8, 2019
HR here are disrespectful, knowing that applicants are sitting and waiting for the interview, a lot of them are ego tripper, both gestures and how they talk. Is seems that they do not know the ethical responsibility of being HR team. They are not trained to be professional nor they do not know how to behave properly.
Cons
HR are power grabbers and ego trippers

Enjoyed teaching.
PART-TIME INSTRUCTOR (Caregiving and Nursing Aide) (Former Employee) - Abella Street, Naga City, Philippines - April 17, 2019
The facility was culture-sensitive. However, the management was not pro employees. The hardest part of being a teacher is to fail a student. But the most enjoyable part of teaching is when your students learn.
Pros
Helping students learn.
Cons
The management is not pro employee.

limited growth.
student intern (Former Employee) - Manila - September 11, 2018
limited career growth as an intern, but it is unavoidable since I stayed at PWU for just a month and a half. I have been mostly exposed to compensation and recruitment. Also because I was an intern, there was no salary or benefits or sense of job security/advancement. Furthermore, I enjoyed being exposed to recruitment, as it gave me the chance to understand how handling applicants work, what answers can pique interest or throw one off as an interviewer while in a job interview.
Pros
good colleague relationship, recruitment experience, appreciation of school-setting environment
Cons
distance, sometimes job is too clerical or repetitive it becomes boring
