Very professional and helpful colleagues
Teacher III (Former Employee) - Bulacan - November 16, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedMany repetetive and irrelevant paperworks. Salary is quite low but there's a lot of incentive. Overall the system needs change since teachers task to teach seems like not priority because of tons of other workloads and irrelevant paperworks

Elementary School Principal (Current Employee) - Catanduanes - November 4, 2023
Working from our department gave me the experiences, insights and lessons to work under pressure. To effectively engage with stakeholders, teachers and parents to the best of my ability by being resourceful & innovative, even if I am underpaid. I enjoyed working with teachers and pupils and to understand the situation although most of them came from the fringes of society.

All the paper works that will be nothing just for complaiance. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The environment where I belong has toxic people. Its up to you on how to handle the toxicity. What is a typical day like for you at the company? work, get paid, and go home. Never mind the others for sometimes they might be the cause of your trouble.

Stagnant growth
Administrative Officer II (Current Employee) - Camarines Sur - October 30, 2023
Stagnant growth. Okay compensation. Toxic chismis culture. only apply if you want job stability. Toxicity depends on the position. Else, go find better opportunities elsewhere.

Overtime will not be compensated
Special Science Teacher I (Former Employee) - Iligan City, Lanao del Norte - October 6, 2023
Overtime is so hard for it to be compensated/compensatory time-off. Also, your undergraduate degree is not aligned with what you will teach. Overall, the experience is a memorable one.

Fun workplace
Sta (Former Employee) - Philippines - October 3, 2023
Fun as coworkers are generally nice but there are no benefits and when you’re absent then there’s no pay. Hard to get a permanent job as you will probably need a “backer”

Too many paperwork and not focused on teaching only. Very stressful.
Kindergarten Teacher, Teacher II (Current Employee) - Quezon City - September 9, 2023
My day as a Kindergarten teacher is fun but stressful. As a Kinder coordinator in our school and our District, I have to submit reports and attend seminar and trainings. I am passionate in teaching Kindergarten, I am doing this for so many years but then I felt like I am stressed and pressure of work. My salary is also not enough because I have to provide my students leaning and activity sheets from my own pocket. The curriculum is also slow paced and and I think they have to upgrade and evaluate the curriculum. Salary is also not enough that is why I am seeking for a part time job.
Pros
Benefits when you retire
Cons
work load is too much

The workplace is a happy and enriching place.
School Principal (Current Employee) - Pinagtongulan, Lipa City Batangas Philippines - September 1, 2023
The hardest part as a school head is that almost all goals must be achieved, no matter how complicated it may seem. Top management people are like robots. They don't have a heart. They just follow what their superiors dictate them to do even if it could make people sick.
Pros
conducive work environment
Cons
unfair promotion

Stressful and laborious paper works and repetitive one
Elementary Teacher (Former Employee) - Jose Panganiban - August 27, 2023
Everyday is a typical day of work, meaning there's no time to relax in times where we need to submit reports, we need to work at home to comply for the needed report as a school head. I learned to be patient, to persevere and be prompt in submission of reports for my school. Trainings and seminars on the other hand equipped me much in relation to my work. Managing a school is a crucial part yet worth meaningful upon accomplishment of necessary task. It involves management of human resources, physical facilities, financial matters, learners and parents involvement and also community partnership. Workplace culture can be set up by a good school manager as well as teachers. It involves collaboration and harmonious relationship among learners, teachers, parents, school leader and the community itself. The hardest part of the job is the truth of working not compensated by justifiable source of bread and butter that will not suffice the living of the family needs. The most enjoyable part of the job is being a good part of accomplishment that contribute to the building of nations future, making the most important role of being the leader of educator and contributing to their success as well as to the achievement of pupils in the field of education.
Pros
other benefits
Cons
salary not aligned to the needs and economic inflation

Cons

Challenging and Memorable Workplace
Teacher I (Former Employee) - Dinagat, Dinigat Islands - July 27, 2023
You get to experience a lot as a teacher in DepEd. Finding the balance between work and your personal life can be hard at times, but you have a secured job.

Fun at serving but Stressful
Special Science Teacher I (Former Employee) - Calamba City, Laguna - July 22, 2023
I was happy doing my job as a Teacher for the kids. However, I have to do a lot of forms even outside our time frame. THey will send activities or reports that should be done with a due date of ASAP and tomorrow even though were informed late about it.

Not for the faint of heart.
Teacher (Former Employee) - Cordillera Administrative Region - July 19, 2023
Are you a fresh grad? Try gov't office work instead. You might have to start as a COS and/job order but that's how you get ahead in an office. At DepEd, you will have the best kids and the not so good ones, too. The same with your colleagues and school principals; some will make you lose your faith in people.Expect unpaid overtime daily. If you plan to be among the dedicated and patriotic teachers, You will work from 6 am am until 11 pm in the evening for at least 6 days a week. But if you just want the salary, just work the bare minimum just like some of the older ones who have lost their passion as they become discouraged and hurt by the system and the environment. It's not a crime to lose passion. But while you are young, try, maybe you'll become stronger and hold on more than some of us who have already given up on DepEd. Good luck and on behalf of teachers who left, we are cheering for you! Don't forget to take care of your health and not just the paperwork. Remember, this job may be noble but your life is more worthy than work. May the odds be in your favor!
