Keeps you on the road

Indeed Featured review

Basically Covenant is a Christian company and i enjoyed working with them, however, you must remember that you are working in a "Worldly System" with worldly people.

Pros

Keeps you on the road

Cons

Does not map out your next fueling

Do not start with Covenant if you are a Veteran

My reason for choosing Covenant was because they advertised their operation victory program that allowed qualifying military veterans to start off with more experience pay once out of training. Well instead of giving me a year credit towards experience like their recruiter said, they gave me only 6months of experience and never fixed it though I brought the issue up multiple times. Then the truck we started with was constantly broke down, and when we asked for a different truck the answer was always no. If you are at a shipper getting unloaded for hours don't expect to get the proper detention pay. We sat at a shipper 6 hours getting unloaded and only got paid 1 hour of it.

Pros

My Trainer was great

Cons

They lie, truck constantly broke down, you will sit waiting to get a truck, dorms are horrible

Not fun

Money wasn't great. Miles wasn't great most of the times. They try to make you do someone else loads. Hometime late most of the times. Not good place to work

Productive and caring staff

Great place to work. Excellent training and the pay is great with nice bonuses. Staff care about you and try to attend to your needs. This was 4yrs ago when I started working with Covenant great experience overall

Great for partners, but keep a regular schedule

My husband and I worked here for nearly 7 years. we kept a regular schedule (12-12) which prevented sleep deprivation and allowed us to always deliver on time. Dispatchers and other departments communicated well for the most part, with the occasional overzealous individual who was usually dealt with quickly. Easy, no touch freight. As a team, you are always running, making health and wellness of any sort impossible.

Pros

Good communication across departments. Driver opinions valued.

Cons

Truck is always moving. No access to healthy meals or exercise.

Poor equipment

If your truck breaks down it will not get fixed in a fair amount of time had trucks break down constantly, the company does pay well when the truck is not broke down have to beg for reimbursements

Great routes, great pay

We worked as a team for covenant for almost 15 years. Great company! Do your job and you get great miles! We were on a dedicated route, home sat and Sunday

Pros

Home time lanes

Cons

Live on the road

A Good Company

It's been 20 years since I drove for Covenant, they had decent equipment, and always put safety before profit. I'd work for them again, as a recruiter, teacher, or manager. My driving days, are sadly over. I loved the life of a driver, always early or on time, except for weather-related delays.

Pros

Good tractors, good miles.

Cons

I chose to be a driver. It comes with cons. I just work through it.

Love this company!

I absolutely love working for Covenant Transport! By far the best job I’ve ever had! And I would say a large part of that is because of the leadership that I’m lucky enough to have there. Some of the best leaders I’ve ever known! I absolutely could not be happier!

Have dedicated routes

Great paying and hometime. They are a descent company but it’s a team driving company. Been with them 4 years me and my spouse like it. You also get a transition bonus of 4,000 a piece

A lot of break down

You’re always in hotels it feels like you’re truck is always breaking down they give you another truck and that one breaks down within a week. I was promised 5000 and 6000 a week in miles i’ve never reached that And I’ve been here six months

Avoid this job

Yeah pay is good only when wheels are rolling. My truck has been in the shop more than otr. Dispatch is unprofessional. Get ready for them to mess up your check every now & then. Inconsistent miles, no home time unless you request off.

Nice drivers

Dispatch is awful ,rude refuses to listen to what the driver is saying too much down time, loads taken away at last minute or cancelled no explanation always the driver's fault no one in dispatch or management takes responsibility. Can't earn enough to live on working for this company

A lot of break downs

My truck was broken down more than on the road.Wheels not rolling, money not made. The truck was always broken down, almost more time sitting than actually working.

Pros

When wheels roll it is good money

Cons

When wheels not rolling money is not being made

OTR, Inconsistent Miles

As a first time CDL A driver it wasn’t bad. They give you a opportunity to build your experience in the trucker world. And there room to progress with in the company. I.E being a trainer, hauling doubles, getting your hazmat ECT. I just don’t like the inconsistency of the miles you drive a week. They promise 5000 miles a week but sometime you have 3300-4700 miles which affect your pay check. Overall I’m glad I was able to build my experience with no accidents

Great Job

Great Pay, steady work!! I have been here 18 months, great place to start a trucking career. I live in Philadelphia and have a dedicated route. From the east coast to west out 4 1/2 days home 2 1/2. This is a Team driving situation. Take home about $1500 Weekly.

Good Pay

I like working for them I have a good fleet team so that makes my job easier. But sometimes their communication is not good. They also keep you rolling.

Another trucking company

Great pay but inconsiderate, have the hardest time making sure you get home or getting transportation beyond greyhound. They have a bad infestation of roaches in terminal and any hotel they put you around the terminal. Fleet barely has any customer relation skills and do not treat you like a priority

hard work and little time to relax

awful company to work ( especially new driver) , not communication ,the dispatcher little help ,confusion ,enough training time, but with the correct coach ,very bad weather at home ,new equipment although the electronic book is frequently broken ,good loads but not for all drivers ,lucky teams to find a good and reliable one ,pay is decent after two months , I would not recommend it .

Pros

good equipment ( news), decent pay with experience

Cons

bad dispatcher, bad home time, bad training

Run away

Not an honest company. If they have a chance to cheat you they will.you have to babysit your payroll constantly. In my 64years of life, they are by far the worst ,most deceitful place I have ever worked. My advice, run the other way.

Pros

Good team leaders

Cons

Too many to count
