Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Ensures proper collection, preservation and storage of specimens.

2. Performs phlebotomy in the absence of phlebotomist.

3. Applies proper method of identification of specimens.

4. Ensures proper storage of test-finished specimens.

5. Processes requests for laboratory examinations by registration and charging Out-Patient’s thru computer application.

6. Attends to patient’s queries and gives instructions on proper collection.

7. Performs analysis and examination of specimens.

8. Runs rechecks on remarkable abnormal results.

9. Facilitates patient’s blood request/sending out of special examinations.

10. Coordinates with Lead blood bank for procurement of blood.

11. Facilitates sending out of special examinations to outside laboratories.

12. Applies infection control measures by practicing proper waste disposal, washes, cleans and dries glass wares and performs housekeeping procedures.

13. Maintains professional expertise by attending continuing education programs.

14. Maintains patient confidence and protects the hospital by keeping confidential results.

15. Ensures that all legal requirements are complied.

16. Complies with IMS standards.
