ELECTRICAL ESTIMATOR –

Job Title: Electrical Estimator (Commercial – AI Assisted Takeoff)Company Overview

Patel Mechanical Inc. is expanding its estimating capabilities into AI-driven workflows to improve speed and accuracy across large-scale commercial projects. We are seeking an Electrical Estimator to support power, lighting, and circuit takeoffs.

Position Summary

The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for performing detailed takeoffs for electrical systems including lighting, power, branch circuits, and home runs. This role requires strong understanding of electrical drawings and the ability to apply logic-based AI tools for circuit routing and quantification.

Key Responsibilities

Takeoff & Quantification

  • Perform electrical takeoffs including:
  • Lighting fixtures
  • Power devices (receptacles, switches)
  • Branch circuits
  • Home runs
  • Use AI tools to:
  • Route branch circuits
  • Route home runs
  • Identify device groupings

Routing Logic & Analysis

  • Select correct routing method based on drawing conditions:
  • Panel & circuit callouts
  • Circuit number grouping
  • AI-based detection
  • Define:
  • Detection areas
  • Exclusion zones
  • Ensure circuits are logically connected to:
  • Panels
  • Devices

Drawing Review

  • Analyze electrical plans and panel schedules
  • Identify:
  • Missing information
  • Conflicts in circuiting
  • Potential constructability issues

QA/QC & Adjustments

  • Review AI-generated routing for accuracy
  • Manually correct:
  • Misrouted circuits
  • Missing connections
  • Add or adjust devices as needed

Estimating Support

  • Export quantities to Excel
  • Assist with:
  • Material takeoffs
  • Labor estimates
  • Attach assemblies for:
  • Wiring
  • Devices
  • Installation labor

Required Qualifications

  • 2–5+ years experience in electrical estimating or takeoffs
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Electrical plans
  • Circuiting logic
  • Panel schedules
  • Experience with takeoff tools (Bluebeam, Accubid, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI-based takeoff tools
  • Knowledge of NEC basics
  • Commercial construction experience
