Full job description

The Insurance Underwriter is responsible for evaluating insurance applications, assessing risks, and determining appropriate coverage, terms, and premiums in accordance with company underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements. The role involves reviewing financial, medical, occupational, and other risk-related information to ensure sound underwriting decisions while supporting business growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate insurance applications and supporting documents.
  • Assess risks and determine insurability based on established underwriting guidelines.
  • Approve, decline, modify, or refer applications within assigned underwriting authority limits.
  • Determine appropriate premiums, coverage limits, exclusions, and policy conditions.
  • Analyze medical, financial, occupational, and other relevant information to support underwriting decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, underwriting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate underwriting decisions and requirements to agents, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Request and review additional information necessary for risk assessment.
  • Maintain accurate underwriting records and documentation.
  • Monitor underwriting trends and identify potential risk exposures.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to agents, brokers, and colleagues when necessary.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance underwriting efficiency and customer service.
  • Stay updated on insurance products, industry developments, and regulatory changes.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Insurance, Risk Management, or any related field.
  • Experience in insurance underwriting, risk assessment, policy administration, claims evaluation, or related insurance functions is preferred.
  • Open to candidates with varying levels of underwriting experience, from entry-level to senior-level professionals.
  • Knowledge of life insurance, health insurance, non-life insurance, or related insurance products is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and underwriting systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Pay: Php40,000.00 - Php60,000.00 per hour
