About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and passionate Junior Linguist (Filipino/Tagalog) to join our growing Production Team. This role is ideal for individuals who have a strong command of both Filipino/Tagalog and English, excellent writing and editing skills, and a passion for language, translation, and localization.

As a Junior Linguist, you will help produce high-quality translations and localized content while ensuring linguistic accuracy, cultural relevance, and consistency across projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate and edit content between English and Filipino/Tagalog, ensuring accuracy, clarity, cultural appropriateness, and compliance with client guidelines.
• Proofread translated materials to identify and correct grammatical, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and linguistic errors.
• Perform quality assurance checks to maintain consistency and high translation standards.
• Collaborate with senior linguists, editors, and team members to resolve translation issues and maintain project consistency.
• Conduct research on language usage, cultural nuances, terminology, and regional preferences to improve localization quality.
• Assist in maintaining terminology databases, glossaries, and language resources.
• Meet daily productivity targets while maintaining excellent quality.
• Complete other language-related tasks assigned by the team.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in both Filipino/Tagalog and English.
• Excellent written communication skills in both languages.
• Strong knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax in Filipino/Tagalog and English.
• Understands the distinction between Filipino and Tagalog and can appropriately use each when required.
• Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Journalism, Philippine Studies, Creative Writing, Filipino, or any related field is preferred.
• Applicants from other degree programs are welcome, provided they demonstrate excellent bilingual writing or translation skills.
• Excellent reading comprehension in both English and Filipino/Tagalog.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Able to proofread and identify objective errors in both personal work and the work of others.
• Able to adapt writing style based on client requirements and project guidelines.
• Can work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Quick learner who can adapt to changing workflows and processes.
• Able to work efficiently under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following will be an advantage:

• Experience in translation, localization, or linguistic projects.
• Familiarity with Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools or other translation software.
• Fluency in additional local or foreign languages.
