Full job description

  • Operate tractor head units to transport containers, goods, and materials over long and short distances.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle condition and roadworthiness.
  • Secure cargo properly and ensure compliance with load limits and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate delivery and trip records including fuel usage, mileage, and delivery schedules.
  • Coordinate with dispatchers for route assignments, schedule updates, and special instructions.
  • Report vehicle issues, accidents, or delays promptly to the fleet supervisor.
  • Follow all company policies, traffic laws, and government transport regulations.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and basic maintenance of the assigned tractor unit.
  • Assist in loading and unloading cargo as necessary.
  • Operate other types of company trucks or vehicles as assigned, when operational needs require.
  • Represent the company professionally when dealing with clients, suppliers, or other drivers.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Professional Driver’s License (with restriction code appropriate for articulated vehicles).
  • At least [2] years of experience driving tractor heads or heavy trucks.
  • Ability to drive other truck types (e.g., wing vans, flatbeds, closed vans) is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of basic truck maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Clean driving record with no history of major violations.
  • Physically fit and able to work extended hours or in varying weather conditions.
  • Familiarity with local and national routes, port operations, and logistics procedures is a plus.
