A Steel Fabricator is responsible for cutting, shaping, assembling, and installing steel structures and metal components according to engineering drawings and specifications. They use various fabrication tools, machinery, and welding equipment to produce high-quality steel products for construction, manufacturing, and industrial projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication plans.
• Measure, mark, cut, bend, and shape steel and metal materials according to specifications.
• Operate fabrication equipment such as cutting machines, grinders, drills, press brakes, and welding machines.
• Assemble steel structures, frames, and metal components.
• Perform welding, grinding, and finishing work to ensure quality standards.
• Inspect fabricated parts for accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
• Repair and modify steel structures and metal products when necessary.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of materials and tools.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain fabrication equipment and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other trades to complete projects efficiently.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Steel Fabricator, Metal Fabricator, or related position.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and fabrication plans.
• Knowledge of steel fabrication processes, welding techniques, and metalworking tools.
• Skilled in measuring, cutting, fitting, and assembling steel components.
• Familiarity with MIG, TIG, and Arc welding is an advantage.
• Good mathematical and problem-solving skills.
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy materials.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations.
