Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive R&D Sourcing Specialist to join our team. This role will support the Research & Development department by identifying, sourcing, and managing suppliers and materials needed for product development, innovation projects, and prototyping. The ideal candidate has strong sourcing experience (including international sourcing), excellent negotiation skills, and a keen understanding of technical product requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source raw materials, components, ingredients, packaging, and other resources required for R&D projects.
  • Build and maintain a network of reliable vendors and suppliers—both local and international—that align with innovation timelines and budget constraints.
  • Utilize platforms such as WeChat or other sourcing tools to connect with suppliers, especially in international markets.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, Product Development, and Procurement teams to understand sourcing needs and project requirements.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify new materials, technologies, suppliers, and sustainable alternatives.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times with suppliers for prototype and pilot production.
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials for lab testing, prototyping, and trial runs.
  • Track and document supplier performance, quality, and compliance with standards.
  • Assist with cost analysis and feasibility studies for new product formulations or packaging.
  • Maintain accurate sourcing records and contribute to sourcing strategy improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in sourcing, purchasing, or procurement — ideally in an R&D or innovation-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with raw materials, product development, or packaging sourcing.
  • Experience in international sourcing is required.
  • Preferably with a working or established WeChat account for supplier communication.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/sourcing systems.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the consumer goods, food & beverage, cosmetics, or manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of regulatory or compliance standards related to ingredients or materials.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams (R&D, Quality, Production, etc.).
  • Experience in market research for potential new items or products.
  • Fluent in English (required).

Working Schedule:
Monday to Friday - 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM Pacific Standard Time
