Restaurant Accounting jobs

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Remote Bookkeeper/Accountant to manage and maintain the financial records for businesses in the real estate and restaurant industries. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who can work independently, stay organized across multiple entities or locations, and deliver accurate, timely financial reporting.

This is a remote position with flexible working hours. The successful candidate must be responsive, dependable, and able to complete assigned work and month-end responsibilities on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate books and financial records in QuickBooks Online.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, loans, merchant processors, and other balance-sheet accounts.
• Process and categorize income, expenses, vendor bills, owner contributions/distributions, and intercompany transactions.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash-flow reporting.
• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor payments, invoicing, and tenant/customer payment tracking as needed.
• Support real-estate accounting needs, including property-level income and expenses, security deposits, renovations/capital improvements, loan activity, and multiple LLC/entity accounting.
• Support restaurant accounting needs, including sales reconciliation, payroll-related entries, inventory/cost-of-goods tracking, merchant processor deposits, and vendor management.
• Maintain organized supporting documentation and workpapers for tax preparation, CPA review, lenders, and management.
• Identify discrepancies, missing information, or accounting issues promptly and communicate them clearly.
• Assist with year-end tax preparation and coordination with outside tax professionals when needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of professional bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Prior experience working with both real estate and restaurant businesses is strongly preferred.
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online; QuickBooks Online certification is highly preferred.
• CPA license is highly preferred, but not required for an exceptionally qualified candidate.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent formal accounting education.
• Experience managing books for multiple entities, properties, locations, or business units is preferred.
• Strong understanding of accrual and cash-basis accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and general ledger maintenance.
• High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent written communication skills and reliable responsiveness during agreed-upon business hours.
• Familiarity with payroll systems, restaurant POS systems, property-management software, and receipt/document-management tools is a plus.
