About the Role

We're looking for a highly skilled and passionate Editor to join our growing team. Working remotely alongside our talented creatives, you'll play a vital role in bringing our clients' portraits to life through exceptional retouching and colour grading.

This is a fast-paced, creative role where you'll combine technical expertise with artistic flair to produce premium-quality imagery that reflects the Verve standard. You'll be trusted to work efficiently while maintaining impeccable attention to detail across every image you deliver.

About us

Verve is Australia's leading portrait photography brand, creating unforgettable experiences and timeless artwork for families across the country. Our passionate team of photographers, artists and creatives are dedicated to telling our clients' stories through beautiful imagery and exceptional customer experiences.

We're proud of our collaborative culture, our commitment to quality, and our continual drive to innovate within the creative industry.

What You'll Be Doing

As part of our editing team, you'll be responsible for:

  • Running portrait sessions through AI retouching software, including exposure correction, white balance adjustments, colour correction, and initial skin and background retouching.
  • Creatively colour grading, cropping and performing advanced retouching in Photoshop where required.
  • Maintaining natural-looking skin textures while achieving the premium Verve finish.
  • Preparing and uploading final images into online albums and studio servers.
  • Completing associated administrative tasks, including image collation and quality control.
  • Consistently delivering work within production timeframes while maintaining exceptional quality.

What We're Looking For

You will have:

  • Advanced Photoshop editing/retouching skills.
  • Experience with Lightroom and professional image editing workflows.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality portrait or e-commerce retouching.
  • Excellent colour grading and cropping skills.
  • The ability to work efficiently in a high-volume production environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

You are:

  • Passionate about photography and image editing.
  • Creative, with an excellent eye for colour, composition and detail.
  • Highly organised, methodical and able to prioritise effectively.
  • Comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative remote team.
  • Calm under pressure and able to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Above all, PASSIONATE — you take pride in your work and are committed to producing images of the highest standard.

Culture & Benefits

  • Flexible remote working arrangement.
  • Creative and supportive team environment.
  • Ongoing training and development.
  • Opportunity to work with one of Australia's leading portrait photography brands.
  • Open, collaborative and feedback-driven culture.
  • We value diversity in all its forms.

The Details

  • Fully remote position.
  • Full-time freelance opportunity (5 days per week).
  • Our studios operate 7 days a week, so weekend availability is required.
  • Working hours align with Australian Eastern Time (AEST), between approximately 9:00am and 8:00pm.
  • Daily remote team meetings and regular check-ins with your Team Leader.

Recruitment Process

Successful shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a practical editing assessment. This includes:

  • Watching a short training module outlining the Verve editing process.
  • Completing a retouching task using sample images.
  • Recording your screen while completing the assessment so we can evaluate your workflow, efficiency and technical ability in Photoshop and Lightroom.

Candidates who successfully complete the assessment will be invited to a video interview. If this sounds like the perfect opportunity for you, we'd love to hear from you. Click Apply below and submit:

  • Your CV
  • A portfolio showcasing your retouching work
