Job Description: Part-time Bookkeeper

About the Role
We are looking for a dependable, detail-focused, and self-motivated Bookkeeper to assist with the daily financial operations of a growing business. This is an urgent opportunity for someone who can start as soon as possible and perform effectively in a fast-paced remote environment.
The role is part-time, requiring 32 hours per week, with working hours scheduled between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM Australian time. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions efficiently, and supporting timely financial reporting.
This role is under an Independent Contractor arrangement, and company equipment will be provided to the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable:
- Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner
- Manage payment runs and ensure approvals are obtained
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors
Accounts Receivable:
- Raise invoices and ensure accurate billing
- Monitor debtor balances and follow up on outstanding payments
- Allocate receipts and reconcile customer accounts
Banking & Reconciliations:
- Perform daily/weekly bank reconciliations
- Investigate and resolve unreconciled transactions
- Maintain visibility over cashflow positions
Payroll Support:
- Assist with payroll processing (via Xero or integrated systems)
- Ensure accuracy of employee records and timesheets
- Support superannuation and compliance requirements
General Bookkeeping:
- Maintain accurate financial records in Xero
- Assist with month-end processes and reporting
- Support BAS preparation (in collaboration with Finance Manager / external accountants)
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, or Finance (required)
- CPA (Philippines) or equivalent qualification (preferred but not required)
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles
- Strong experience with Xero (essential)
- Solid understanding of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
- Experience supporting Australian clients or familiarity with AU accounting (highly preferred)
- Understanding of GST and BAS (preferred but can be trained)
- High attention to detail and strong reconciliation skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Good written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
