Job description

I. JOB OBJECTIVE:

The Transport Orderly works directly under the Head Nurse and Staff Nurse, performing tasks as instructed. These tasks are collaborative in nature and require the aide to work as a member of a team toward a common objective.

II. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs any combination of following duties in care of patients in hospital, nursing home, or other medical facility, under direction of nursing and medical staff.

2. Transport patients within the facility with an accompanying staff nurse (as needed based on patient condition) from one unit to another, special diagnostic procedures, etc. Ensuring patient safety during the whole transport journey.

3. Lift patients or assist other in lifting patients to move them between beds and wheelchairs or onto stretchers, examination tables or surgical tables

4. Transport patients who use wheelchairs to their appointments within the facility, including treatments units, operating rooms or testing units, or transport them to the appropriate vehicle for appointments outside of the facility.

5. Clean, disinfect and inspect facility equipment, including wheelchairs, hospital beds and portable medical equipment, and provide documentation of any repairs or maintenance required.

6. Transport medical equipment and supplies between rooms and departments

7. Respond to emergency situations such as security calls and fire alarms, and assist other staff members in moving patients to a safe space.

III. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Accepts other task as maybe assigned by the Head Nurse & Staff Nurse.

2. Promotes and enhances professional working relationship with colleagues, superiors, clients and other external parties.

3. Actively participates and contributes to the development and accomplishment of the Center’s objectives.

4. Creates and preserves the most favorable company image by conducting all functions in the most ethical and fair manner.

Job Qualifications:

  • At least High School graduate
  • Must possess a valid NC II Certification in Caregiving or Healthcare Services.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physically fit and capable of safely transporting patients, equipment, and supplies within the facility.
