Job Title: Medical Billing Specialist

Employment Type: Independent Contractor
Schedule: Full-time, U.S. business hours (Fixed Night shift)
Compensation: $1,000–$1,300 USD/month

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join a growing healthcare support team. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in U.S. medical billing and revenue cycle management (RCM) who can confidently manage claims, payments, denials, and accounts receivable.

You will play an important role in ensuring accurate and timely claim processing, resolving billing issues, and supporting efficient revenue collection.

What You'll Do

• Prepare, review, and submit accurate medical claims to insurance carriers.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility, coverage, prior authorizations, and referrals.
• Review provider documentation for billing and coding accuracy and completeness.
• Post and reconcile insurance and patient payments.
• Monitor claim status and address rejections, errors, and unpaid claims.
• Investigate and resolve claim denials and submit appeals when necessary.
• Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Interpret and work with EOBs and ERAs.
• Communicate with insurance payers to resolve billing and claim issues.
• Generate patient statements and respond to billing-related inquiries.
• Maintain accurate billing records and reports.
• Collaborate with providers, coders, and administrative teams.
• Follow HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and applicable payer requirements.

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of hands-on medical billing experience, preferably supporting the U.S. healthcare system.
• Experience with medical claims processing and revenue cycle management.
• Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and insurance billing processes.
• Experience with insurance eligibility verification and prior authorizations.
• Strong experience handling claim rejections, denials, corrections, and appeals.
• Experience with accounts receivable follow-up and payment posting.
• Ability to interpret EOBs and ERAs.
• Familiarity with clearinghouses such as Availity, Office Ally, Change Healthcare, or similar platforms.
• Comfortable learning and working with EMR/EHR and medical billing systems.
• Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting multiple providers or a high-volume billing environment.
• Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance payers.
• Prior experience managing a full medical billing or RCM workflow.
• Experience working remotely with a U.S.-based healthcare organization.
