  • Support staff in interpreting ventilator displays, alarm notifications, and equipment readings.

Tracheostomy and/or Ventilator Troubleshooting & Patient Response Support

  • Assist on-site nursing staff with evaluating patient responses during ventilator alarms and equipment-related concerns.
  • Help staff recognize potential causes of ventilator alarms, including circuit disconnections, airway resistance, and other equipment or patient-related factors.
  • Guide bedside nurses in gathering and communicating relevant observations, including oxygen saturation, respiratory patterns, patient comfort, and ventilator readings.
  • Provide real-time video consultation to support troubleshooting and recognition of potential respiratory deterioration.
  • Help staff distinguish between equipment-related issues and situations requiring immediate clinical escalation.
  • Collaborate with on-site nurses and designated medical providers to support timely and appropriate responses to ventilator-related concerns.
  • Reinforce established emergency procedures, physician-approved protocols, and appropriate escalation pathways.

Overnight On-Call Support & Communication

  • Remain available during assigned overnight hours (10 hours from 8 pm to 6 am, but can be modified as the need arises) to respond promptly to questions from facility nursing staff.
  • Participate in real-time video or audio consultations to assist with tracheostomy circuit and ventilator-related concerns.
  • Communicate clearly and calmly with staff during urgent or time-sensitive situations.
  • Coordinate with designated medical providers and facility leadership when issues require clinical decisions or additional intervention.

  • Follow organizational policies, manufacturer instructions, and established clinical protocols.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and use organization-approved secure communication platforms.
  • Collaborate professionally with on-site nurses, facility leadership, and medical providers.
  • Perform all responsibilities within applicable professional licensing requirements, scope-of-practice limitations, and facility policies.

  • Minimum 3 years of direct, hands-on experience managing mechanically ventilated patients in an ICU, critical care, or respiratory therapy setting.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical ventilators, breathing circuits, ventilator alarms, and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Experience recognizing patient respiratory changes and responding to ventilator-related complications.
  • Ability to interpret ventilator readings and assist nursing staff with evaluating patient responses.
  • Excellent clinical judgment, problem-solving abilities, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, organized, and responsive during urgent situations.
  • Experience collaborating with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician associates, nurses, and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection with clear, uninterrupted video and audio capabilities.
  • Availability to provide dependable overnight on-call support during designated US-Pacific hours.
