Medical Encoding jobs

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Home Health Medical Coder to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring accurate coding and compliance with healthcare regulations. If you have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of coding systems, and experience in home health, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze patients’ charts thoroughly to ensure accurate coding
• Utilize specialized medical classification software to assign diagnosis codes
• Assign codes to diagnoses using ICD-10-CM codes in accordance with PDGM guidelines by CMS
• Enter coding information into an online system
• Ensure codes are accurate and properly sequenced based on government and insurance regulations
• Follow up with providers regarding incomplete or unclear documentation
• Communicate effectively with clinical staff about documentation requirements
• Research complex or unusual coding cases as needed
• Stay updated on changes in coding rules and regulations
• Manage detailed and highly specific coded data
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality and data security
• Ensure all codes used are current and valid

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years experience in Home Health coding
• Experience with Plan of Care (POC) and OASIS Review
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required
• HCS-O or HCS-D certification is a plus
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Must be available to start ASAP
