Medical Daily UK is looking for a Lead Editor to help build and lead our growing health newsroom. You'll manage a team of writers and junior editors, oversee daily content, and ensure every article is accurate, engaging and easy to understand.

This is a hands-on editorial role suited to someone who enjoys mentoring others, spotting great story ideas and producing high-quality journalism.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of writers and editors.
  • Assign stories and manage the daily editorial workflow.
  • Edit and publish articles to a high editorial standard.
  • Ensure content is accurate, well sourced and written in British English.
  • Help identify trending and evergreen health topics.
  • Encourage original reporting, expert interviews and evidence-based journalism.
  • Write and improve SEO-friendly headlines.
  • Monitor article performance and help the team continually improve.

We're looking for someone who

  • Has experience editing digital news or feature content.
  • Has an interest in health, medicine or science reporting.
  • Writes and edits with excellent attention to detail.
  • Understands SEO and digital publishing.
  • Can manage deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom.
  • Enjoys coaching writers and helping them grow.
  • Is organised, proactive and has strong news judgement.

Bonus if you have

  • Experience covering health or medical topics.
  • Familiarity with the NHS and UK health news.
  • Experience using Google Analytics, Google Trends or SEO tools.
  • A background in journalism, communications or a related field.
