KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs assessment and provides respiratory care and therapeutic treatments to patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders.
  • Operates and monitors mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration equipment, aerosol generators, and other respiratory care equipment according to prescribed treatment parameters.
  • Provides emergency respiratory care, including artificial respiration, external cardiac massage, and assistance during cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Evaluates patients and determines appropriate respiratory treatment based on physicians' orders.
  • Monitors patients' physiological responses to therapy, including vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry, and reports adverse reactions to the physician.
  • Performs and assists with diagnostic procedures such as Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) extraction and interpretation, Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT), lung capacity testing, and other cardiopulmonary tests.
  • Performs ventilator monitoring and routine respiratory treatments, including tubing changes, inline nebulization, and weaning procedures.
  • Connects and manages ventilatory support for patients who require mechanical ventilation and performs ventilator adjustments according to physicians' orders.
  • Administers aerosol and humidity therapy and provides appropriate instructions to patients.
  • Performs chest physiotherapy, bronchopulmonary drainage, and breathing exercises.
  • Provides information and education to patients and relatives regarding their condition, respiratory treatments, breathing exercises, medications, and proper use of respiratory equipment.
  • Relays diagnostic and blood analysis results to the attending physician for appropriate management.
  • Maintains accurate and complete patient charts and respiratory therapy records.
  • Inspects, cleans, sterilizes, tests, and maintains respiratory therapy equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in providing patient care.
  • Provides respiratory care to patients across different age groups and acuity levels, including patients requiring intensive and life-support care.
  • Demonstrates respiratory care procedures to trainees and other healthcare personnel as assigned.
  • Follows established respiratory care procedures, safety rules, hospital policies, and physicians' orders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related field.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with a valid PRC license.
  • Preferably with relevant hospital or clinical experience.
  • Knowledgeable in respiratory care procedures, oxygen therapy, airway management, and mechanical ventilation.
  • Good clinical assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Willing to work on shifting schedules, including weekends and holidays.
  • Compassionate, detail-oriented, and committed to patient safety and quality care.
