Job Summary:

A cargo officer is a person who oversees and coordinates the movement of cargo. They are responsible for preparing cargo documentation, performing stock control and housekeeping operations, and ensuring that shipments are arranged according to cargo plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and monitor duties and responsibilities of third-party provider during acceptance, screening, and build up until it is endorsed to the Loadmaster for loading.
  • Ensures that all cargo documents for each shipment are checked by third party provider. Fully accomplished Cargo Booking Advisory (CBA), Shipper’s Declaration form (DGD), and Airway Bill (AWB) by Shippers or Freight Forwarders or Charterer, additional documents such as Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and packing list (if applicable).
  • Assist Cargo Supervisor in reviewing, checking and endorsing payments processing of cargo supplier’s invoices / payment advice.
  • Act on urgent operational issues raised by third party provider.
  • Reports proper, safe, and efficient utilization of assigned company equipment and assets. Investigate and submit reports on administrative cases, irregularities or other reported incidents to Cargo Supervisor.
  • Oversee the packaging and acceptability condition of outgoing and incoming cargoes handled by third party provider.
  • Ensures that the measures weight and dimension of outgoing cargoes are correct and computed correctly and checked by third party provider.
  • Checks completeness of Shipper’s Declaration Form and Cargo Booking Advisory and other documents per flight
  • Coordinates with acceptance staff regarding changes in flight schedule.
  • Oversee the releasing of cargo.
  • Oversee actions third party manpower issues and administrative concerns.
  • Notify all concerned parties when there is delay in forwarding booked cargo (including transshipment and interline cargo.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least a college level
  • Experience as a cargo officer for at least 2 years
  • Experience with DG training and handling DG shipment is an advantage
