JOB OVERVIEW

The Orderly is responsible for assisting the nursing and healthcare team in providing safe, efficient, and supportive patient care. The position involves transporting patients, maintaining cleanliness and order in assigned areas, assisting with basic non-clinical patient needs, and supporting the smooth operation of the hospital or healthcare unit.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in transporting patients to and from different hospital departments using wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds.
• Assist patients with mobility and transfers as directed by the nursing staff.
• Help maintain cleanliness, order, and safety in assigned patient care areas.
• Transport medical records, laboratory specimens, supplies, equipment, and other authorized hospital items.
• Assist nursing staff with non-clinical tasks as assigned.
• Prepare and arrange patient rooms, beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers when needed.
• Ensure that wheelchairs, stretchers, and other assigned equipment are clean and properly stored.
• Assist in moving and positioning equipment within the hospital.
• Observe proper infection prevention and safety procedures at all times.
• Provide courteous and respectful assistance to patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
• Report any patient concerns, accidents, damaged equipment, or unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisor or nursing staff.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect patients' privacy.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Nurse Supervisor or authorized hospital personnel.
