Full job description

Duties and Responsibilities

· Conducts chemical tests on blood, urine, spinal fluid, and gastric juices to determine the presence of normal and abnormal components.

· Uses microscopic techniques to count and identify blood cells, ensuring accurate analysis for diagnostic purposes.

· Conducts blood grouping, typing, and compatibility testing to prepare blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusion.

· Performs delta checks by comparing current and previous patient results to detect significant changes, ensuring accuracy and validity before result release.

· Verifies test accuracy by performing delta checks, investigating flagged results, and taking corrective action as required.

· Maintains and ensures proper operation of laboratory analyzers and equipment through calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair coordination; follows manufacturer guidelines, manages equipment inventory, and evaluates new technologies.

· Maintains laboratory supply inventory by monthly monitoring of stock levels, anticipating needs, ordering, and verifying deliveries.

· Conserves laboratory resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently to achieve work objectives.

· Provides accurate medical technology information in response to inquiries and requests.

· Collects, analyzes, and summarizes data to prepare reports on technological findings.

· Enhances professional and technical expertise by attending workshops, reviewing publications, networking, and engaging in professional societies.

· Acts independently under the supervisor’s guidance and assumes responsibility for the implementation of laboratory and hospital policies and procedures.

· Fosters and maintains positive and collaborative working relationships with fellow Medical Technologists, other medical staff, and hospital personnel to maintain efficient workflow within and between departments.

· Maintains a safe and clean work environment by following established procedures, rules, and regulations.

· Reports incidents, near misses, and other issues, and assists in the preparation of risk assessments and incident reports.

· Ensures the safety of patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste, and identification procedures.

· Protects patient privacy and hospital integrity by keeping information confidential.

· Willing and able to work any shift, including holidays and weekends, as required.

· Maintains regular and punctual attendance to ensure the continuous and efficient delivery of laboratory services.

· Reports for duty as scheduled and promptly informs the supervisor of any unavoidable absence or delay.

· Complies with attendance and leave policies to support departmental operations and patient care.

· Consistently demonstrates professionalism, courtesy, and respect in all interactions with department staff, physicians, and administrative personnel

· Contributes to team success by performing related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Education – Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology; must be a licensed and registered Medical Technologist.

2. Experience – Minimum of one (1) year relevant work experience.

Pay: Php25,000.00 - Php30,000.00 per month
