A redemption clerk processes customer requests to exchange items like coupons, stamps, or points for merchandise, discounts, or services.

Key responsibilities

• Process redemptions: Accept and process coupons, trading stamps, points, or vouchers for customers.
• Verify validity: Check that the redemption items are authentic, valid, and not expired.
• Calculate and apply discounts: Accurately calculate the value of coupons or stamps and apply them to the customer's transaction.
• Customer service: Interact with customers, answer questions about promotional offers, and resolve any complaints or issues.
• Inventory management: Maintain the stock of promotional merchandise, track inventory levels, and order new items when needed.
• Record keeping: Keep detailed records of all transactions, taxes collected, and merchandise distributed.
• Maintain the area: Ensure the redemption area is clean, organized, and presentable.
• Cash & Inventory Management: Handle cash securely and follow cash-handling procedures. Perform end-of-shift balancing of tokens and/or cash. Notify supervisors of any shortages, discrepancies, or supply needs.

Skills and qualifications

• Attention to detail: Essential for accurately verifying and processing transactions and managing inventory.
• Customer service skills: Ability to communicate effectively and provide a positive customer experience.
• Basic math skills: Required to calculate values and process transactions accurately.
• Organizational skills: Needed to manage inventory, records, and the workspace.
• Computer and technical proficiency: May be required to use point-of-sale systems or other software to process redemptions.
