Job Summary
The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, delivering excellent customer service, maintaining a clean and organized bar area, and ensuring compliance with company policies and responsible alcohol service regulations. The role also involves managing inventory, processing customer payments, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesBeverage Preparation and Service
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes.
- Mix cocktails, pour beer and wine, and prepare specialty drinks.
- Ensure beverages are presented attractively and served promptly.
- Verify customers' legal drinking age before serving alcoholic beverages.
Customer Service
- Welcome guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Take beverage and snack orders accurately.
- Recommend drinks based on customer preferences.
- Respond promptly to customer requests and resolve complaints professionally.
- Build positive relationships to encourage repeat business.
Bar Operations
- Set up the bar before opening and close it at the end of each shift.
- Keep the bar clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout the shift.
- Replenish ice, garnishes, glassware, and beverage supplies.
- Ensure all bar equipment is clean and functioning properly.
Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels of beverages, mixers, and bar supplies.
- Assist in receiving and storing deliveries.
- Report low stock levels and damaged items.
- Participate in regular inventory counts and minimize product waste.
Cash Handling and POS Operations
- Process customer payments accurately using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
- Issue receipts and maintain accurate cash records.
- Balance cash drawers at the end of each shift.
- Follow company procedures for cash handling and payment processing.
Sanitation and Safety
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in accordance with food and beverage regulations.
- Follow responsible alcohol service guidelines.
- Ensure safe handling of glassware, equipment, and cleaning materials.
- Comply with workplace health and safety policies.
Teamwork and Support
- Coordinate with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure efficient service.
- Assist with special events and promotions when required.
- Support teammates during busy periods.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a bartender or in food and beverage service is preferred.
- Bartending certification or responsible alcohol service certification is an advantage.
- Knowledge of cocktails, wines, beers, spirits, and beverage preparation techniques.
