Full job description

  • Install, maintain, and repair wiring, control systems, lighting, and electrical equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and panel schedules. Department of Energy
  • Diagnose electrical problems using testing devices (ammeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes).
  • Replace or repair defective wiring, fixtures, and equipment using hand and power tools.
  • Ensure compliance with state/local building regulations and the National Electrical Code.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing devices and tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and safety practices.

Education and Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Most electricians complete a 4–5 year apprenticeship
  • Vocational Training NC II Required
