  • Employment Type: Full-time
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, high-energy Entry-Level Accountant to support the financial operations of a fast-paced New York-based hospitality business. Because our industry never sleeps, this role operates on the graveyard shift to ensure all daily sales, inventory, and restaurant data are reconciled and ready for the executive team by morning.
You will focus heavily on inventory tracking, receipt processing, and daily financial reconciliation using industry-leading platforms. If you are organized, analytical, and comfortable working with high-volume transactional data, this is an excellent opportunity to launch your accounting career.
Key Responsibilities
  • Daily Transaction Processing: Record daily financial transactions (sales, purchases, and expenses) accurately in Restaurant365.
  • POS Reconciliation: Reconcile daily sales reports from Toast POS with core accounting records during the overnight shift.
  • Accounts Payable Support: Process, code, and digitally archive vendor invoices and receipts with high attention to detail.
  • Inventory & COGS Tracking: Assist with overnight inventory adjustments, cost of goods sold (COGS) monitoring, and food/beverage cost analysis.
  • Account Reconciliation: Perform regular bank, credit card, and clearing account reconciliations to ensure zero discrepancies.
  • Month-End Support: Assist the NY-based management team with month-end closing activities, including journal entries and variance analysis.
  • Data Integrity: Identify and resolve immediate discrepancies between POS systems, inventory logs, and accounting software.
  • Reporting: Generate data-driven reports and summaries using Microsoft Excel to assist in operational decision-making.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Core Knowledge: Strong fundamental understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, data organization; pivot tables/VLOOKUPs a huge plus).
  • Shift Capability: Must be fully comfortable working a permanent graveyard shift schedule.
  • Mindset: Extreme attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage repetitive, high-volume data with flawless accuracy.
  • Communication: Strong English communication and collaborative problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior exposure to Restaurant365 or similar restaurant accounting systems.
  • Familiarity with Toast or other hospitality POS platforms.
  • Previous experience handling inventory accounting or high-volume invoice processing.
Key Competencies for Success
  • Night-Owl Efficiency: Highly productive and focused during overnight hours.
  • Analytical Thinking: A natural knack for spot-checking numbers and solving reconciliation puzzles.
  • Time Management: Ability to independently manage tasks and meet strict morning deadlines without constant supervision.
Scope of the Role
  • Focus: Transaction processing, inventory management, and daily reconciliation.
  • Collaboration: Works closely with the US-based accounting leadership and restaurant operations teams.
