About Australian Energy Upgrades

Australian Energy Upgrades (AEU) is a leading Victorian based installer of solar, battery storage, HVAC, EV chargers, hot water systems and LED lighting. We operate across both residential and commercial markets, delivering high quality energy solutions to thousands of Australian homes and businesses. Our team is growing fast and we are looking for a skilled technical support specialist to join us remotely and help us deliver outstanding service to our customers and installation teams.

About the Role

This is a full time remote role supporting AEU's residential customer base, installation teams and internal sales staff with technical queries across solar, battery storage and inverter systems. You will be the first point of contact for technical support escalations, working through monitoring issues, diagnosing faults, coordinating with manufacturers and ensuring customers and installers get fast, accurate answers.

The majority of your day to day work will be residential technical support: identifying monitoring problems, diagnosing installation or software faults, and helping customers and installers resolve issues efficiently. For the right candidate with deeper engineering knowledge, there is also scope to support sales and design queries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to residential customers post installation, including monitoring setup, fault identification and resolution guidance
  • Support installation teams in the field with technical queries relating to inverter configuration, battery setup, CT placement, wiring and commissioning
  • Diagnose issues across solar, battery and inverter systems to determine whether the cause is an installation fault, software issue or manufacturer defect
  • Liaise with manufacturer technical support teams (Sungrow, Sigenergy, Goodwe, Enphase and others) to escalate warranty claims and seek resolutions
  • Manage and track warranty claims and support tickets through to resolution
  • Assist customers with monitoring platform setup and troubleshooting across apps and web portals
  • Guide customers through WiFi configuration and connecting inverters and batteries to monitoring platforms
  • Configure and adjust battery settings remotely including time of use schedules, charge and discharge windows, export limits and grid interaction settings
  • Support internal sales staff with technical product queries relating to system compatibility, equipment selection and capability
  • Where experience allows, assist with technical design questions including battery placement, grid connection scenarios and equipment suitability
  • Maintain clear records of support cases, fault trends and resolutions
  • Identify recurring issues and escalate patterns to operations management

What We Are Looking For

Essential

  • Solid working knowledge of solar PV systems including DC string configuration, system voltages, array design and battery storage integration
  • Understanding of basic solar design principles including string sizing, MPPT configuration, voltage and current calculations
  • Experience in a technical support role within the solar or energy industry
  • Hands on familiarity with major inverter and battery brands including Sungrow, Goodwe, Sigenergy, Enphase or similar
  • Ability to diagnose solar and battery system faults including installation errors, software issues and manufacturer defects
  • Experience using manufacturer monitoring platforms and diagnostic tools
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Comfortable working autonomously and managing multiple open support cases simultaneously
  • Available to work full time during Australian Eastern Standard or Daylight Saving Time business hours

Highly Advantageous

  • Electrical engineering qualification or trade background
  • Experience working in a technical support role for a solar inverter or battery manufacturer
  • Knowledge of Australian grid connection requirements, DNSP processes or Australian standards (AS4777, AS3000)
  • Experience supporting Australian solar companies or Australian customers
  • Familiarity with solar design principles including system sizing, MPPT configuration and protection requirements
  • Experience with CRM or ticketing systems
