Job Summary

Responsible for the planning, design review, execution, supervision, and quality control of all grounding, earthing, and lightning protection systems in construction projects. Ensures all works comply with engineering standards, safety regulations, and project specifications. Oversees installation, testing, and documentation to guarantee reliable electrical safety and system performance for buildings, industrial facilities, and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

1. Planning & Design Review

• Study and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and design calculations related to earthing, grounding grids, lightning protection, and equipotential bonding systems.
• Review design feasibility, material selection, and technical compliance with international standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, BS) and local building/electrical codes.
• Prepare technical proposals, work plans, method statements, and material requirements for grounding works.
• Coordinate with design engineers, electrical teams, and clients to resolve technical queries or design adjustments.

2. Site Supervision & Execution

• Supervise all on-site activities including excavation, installation of earth electrodes, conductor laying, connection, welding/bonding, and backfilling.
• Ensure proper installation of components such as copper-clad steel rods, flat bars, cables, earth pits, test links, and enhancement materials (bentonite, chemical salts).
• Monitor work progress, ensure adherence to project schedules, and coordinate with other trades (civil, electrical, mechanical) to avoid conflicts.
• Guide and instruct foremen, technicians, and laborers on correct installation techniques and safety practices.

3. Quality Control & Testing

• Conduct regular inspections to verify workmanship, material quality, and compliance with approved designs.
• Perform or witness field tests: earth resistance measurement, continuity testing, soil resistivity testing, and joint resistance checks.
• Analyze test results; recommend corrective actions if values are outside required limits (e.g., adjusting electrode depth, adding enhancement materials).
• Ensure all connections, terminations, and corrosion protection measures meet quality standards and durability requirements.

4. Safety & Compliance

• Enforce strict compliance with occupational health and safety (OSH) standards, site safety rules, and environmental regulations.
• Identify hazards related to excavation, electrical safety, and heavy works; implement risk control measures.
• Ensure all grounding systems meet safety requirements for personnel, equipment protection, and lightning protection.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate site records: daily reports, inspection logs, test reports, material delivery receipts, and non-conformance reports.
• Prepare as-built drawings and technical documentation upon project completion.
• Submit regular progress reports, technical status updates, and completion certificates to the Project Manager and client.

Pay: Php28,000.00 - Php30,000.00 per hour
