About the role

Cleanview is a market intelligence company tracking U.S. data center and clean energy infrastructure. Our platform, API, and research reports are used by analysts, investors, business development teams, and journalists to understand where power infrastructure is being built and who's building it.

We're looking for an experienced research analyst to help improve and maintain our databases of data centers and power projects. This role begins with hands-on research work — hunting for data in obscure places, parsing permits and regulatory filings, working through interconnection queues, and keeping our project database accurate and current.

Beyond day-to-day research, we want someone who's genuinely excited to help us build better. That means improving our methodology, developing systems that raise data quality and research efficiency, and collaborating on the internal tools that power our work. The ideal candidate brings domain expertise and a real passion for research, ideally with familiarity in data centers and power project development.

Key responsibilities

• Expand and enrich our dataset based on customer needs — for example, identifying newly announced data centers, enriching interconnection queue projects with developer and tenant information, tracking project status, and adding fields like behind-the-meter power strategy and tenant relationships.
• Source data from primary and hard-to-find records — permits, regulatory dockets, utility filings, and other public documents — and translate them into structured, reliable data.
• Partner with our team to improve research methodology, continuously raising data quality based on what you learn in the field.

Required skills and experience

• You’re familiar with how power projects, data centers, and/or energy infrastructure gets developed in the US. You're familiar with concepts like interconnection queues, project development stages, and the public data sources that track them (EIA filings, FERC documents, state regulatory records, etc.). You don't need to be a 10-year industry veteran, but you need enough context to look at a project record and understand what you're seeing without someone walking you through every field.
• You're a fast, resourceful researcher. You know how to dig through SEC filings, public spreadsheets, FERC applications, and news sources to find valuable information.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to validate data across multiple sources
• Strong communication skills
• Comfortable working independently and proposing process improvements

Terms of engagement

• Position: Research Analyst
• Engagement type: Full-time independent contractor
• Compensation: USD $2,500 per month
• Year-end bonus: One additional month of fees (USD $2,500), paid on or before December 15 each year. Prorated in your first year by months worked — for a mid-August start, that's 5/12, or approximately $1,042 in December 2026.
• Time off: We don't run a formal accrual or approval system for independent contractors. Your monthly fee isn't reduced when you take time off. Plan on roughly 10 vacation days and 10 holidays per year — you choose which holidays you observe, just flag them in advance so we can plan around them. For longer breaks (3+ days), two weeks' notice.
• Sick leave: Take the time you need when you're sick. No fee reduction, no day count, no doctor's note.
